Poquoson City Public Schools

Ninety-three out of 100 STEM occupations had wages above the national average wage (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015).  In addition, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 99 percent of STEM employment was in occupations that typically require some type of postsecondary education for entry (2015).  Poquoson City Schools is providing students with exposure to STEM skills in grades K-12.  Participation in STEM content encourages students to think critically, embrace real-world challenges and problems, collaborate with peers, and promotes exploration, inquiry, creativity, and invention.  With the development of a Makerspace in Poquoson Primary School to the student recognitions of Poquoson High School at the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) ceremony, Poquoson City Schools provides students with opportunities across grade levels and disciplines to engage in 21^st century STEM learning skills.
